Modus was founded in 2022 by four childhood friends with a simple but powerful mission: to rethink housing. We asked ourselves: how do we break down traditional models and create solutions that truly serve the people who need them most? How do we design homes and communities that are fast to build, affordable, high-quality, and that don’t just meet, but exceed, local building codes? Most importantly, how do we create places that give individuals and families the stability, dignity, and opportunity to thrive?

We were driven by what we saw around us: rising housing costs, a growing unhoused population, unemployment, and the erosion of the middle class. Homeownership has slipped out of reach for many, and even basic housing is increasingly inaccessible. We believe that every person deserves a place to call home, and that real change begins with safety and stability. With the support of financial partners who shared this vision, and the tremendous support of our partners and parent company, Modus was born.

For our first year and a half, we’ve traveled across the country and beyond, meeting with end-users, NGOs, city officials, legislators, construction experts, and global suppliers. We listened, we learned, and we built. The result: two powerful, cost-effective, and rapidly deployable building solutions that adapt to the toughest challenges we’ve encountered.
